Monica Parales is a singer from the West side with an early 2000's R&B feel. Most may remember her as the little girl with the crazy dance moves in Missy Elliot's "Gossip Folks" video back in 2009. Or even from her days as a singer in the group "School Gyrls" put together by Nick Cannon in 2010. She started singing at age 5, and it has been something she's loved ever since. Her music is inspired by artist like Destiny's Child, Lauryn Hill, TLC, Christina Aguilera, Bobby Valentino, T-Pain, and some other R&B artists from the late 90s, and early/mid 2000s. Monica also has love for old school R&B getting inspiration from artists like Toni Braxton, Anita Baker, and Chaka Khan. Her sound is very pop/R&B she likes to come up with memorable melodies that make you sway to the beat, and stick in your head. She carries a mid tempo in her tracks giving it that slow jam feel, but she isn't limited to just that sound. She recently dropped an EP entitled "InRetrospect", and if you love that nostalgic feeling you get from listening to your favorite 90s/2000s R&B then you need to hit her Soundcloud, and peep that project! She has all the right melodies, and the content of her lyrics points straight to that 90s/2000s influence. Monica is focused on pushing her EP, booking local shows, and ultimately gaining a bigger fan base. Her sound is something we think everyone needs to hear, because everyone appreciates the sound from the times she pays homage to in her music. So check out her EP, and follow her on IG/Twitter for updates!
