Ballin From Berlin to The Beach

Nele Barber is probably the most unique feature we've had to date! Barber is a 21yr old film major, and OH for the CSULB Women's Volleyball team. She is also 6'1, and hails all the way from Berlin Germany! She played with the German Junior National team in high school, and she represented her country in over 80 international youth and junior matches from 2010-2013. After high school she went to Marquette for 2 years where she was named All BIG East after averaging 4.25 kills per set, and hit .460, and helping MU to their first tournament title win. In 2014 Barber had a great season posting 7 double-doubles on the season, and recording 12 kills in their first round loss to Illinois St. Last season she decided to take her talents to The Beach where she lead the team with 454 kills, 384 digs, 23 double-doubles, and had 10 or more kills in 29 of the 31 matches! She did that, and posted career highs in Kills (24), Total Attacks (74), Assists (5), and Blocks (7) all in one season! Barber chose to make her move to CSULB, because she felt that Coach Gimmillaro had a great program that she could contribute her talents to, and she also really loves the Long Beach scenery......I mean can you blame her? Who doesn't love the beauty of Long Beach. Barber has goals to play professionally, and hopes she can make it to Tokyo in 2020 as apart of Germany's team. If that doesn't happen then she just wants to focus on video editing, having a great senior year, and continue to progress. Mastering her her craft whether it's in her major or at her position on the court. We wish you the best of luck, and hope you have an amazing experience in your last year at Cal State! Follow her on IG, and stay updated on CSULB Women's Volleyball as they continue their 2016-2017 season!
